The Dr Kurt Waul Foundation threw its support behind the ‘Read Pan Di Caana’ initiative organized by the Early Childhood Commission in the community of Old Harbour Bay.

The programme was held that the Old Harbour Bay Bathing Beach on Friday, April 28, 2023.

Dr Kurt Waul, founder of the Foundation, was present to read to the impressionable minds from the Elder Watts Basic School, which happens to be his alma mater.

After spending more than an hour interacting and reading to the little ones, Dr Waul says “it is always a joyful feeling reading to children. It gives me this nostalgic feeling when I was young like them and listening to my mother, who is a retired educator, read to me and my siblings. It also takes me back to when I was attending this very same basic school in the early 1980s too.”

“What is also important is that these children get the chance to read with and also listen to an adult apart from their teacher or parents read to them. This is yet another opportunity to build their social skills which directly impacts their language skills and vocabulary from a very tender age,” said the father of three.
